An outstanding native wildflower that looks a lot like annual ageratum…but is reliably perennial and wonderfully low-maintenance. Just give it sufficient moisture in light shade or full sun and it will pump out a long-lasting show of starry light purplish-blue for weeks on end, starting in mid- to late summer. No pests, diseases, or nibbling deer. Mass it in an area you don’t want to fuss over. Add cut stems to late-season bouquets.

Grow in full to partial sun. Reaches 24-36 inches tall, about 20 inches wide. Zones 5-9.
